Valentine’s Day Movie evening: showcasing La La Land

On Saturday 17 February 2018, Fractal hosted a Valentine’s Day movie evening on the front lawn of Oliewenhuis Art Museum. The popular American musical and romantic-comedy- drama film La La Land (PG13) will be screened. This Damien Chazelle directed film stars Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist and Emma Stone as an aspiring actress. The film tells the tale of a couple who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles while pursuing their dreams. The title of the film refers to both the city of Los Angeles and the idiom for being “out of touch with reality”. This original musical is about everyday life and explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

Fractal’s movie evenings and events at Oliewenhuis Art Museum have become extremely popular in recent years. Events including 1000 Drawings, Construct your Skin and the annual Valentine’s Day and Halloween movie nights have become fixtures in Bloemfontein’s entertainment calendar. Fractal is an ad hoc committee of the Friends of Oliewenhuis Art Museum, consisting of 3 – 10 executive members. Fractal aims to educate the general public and thus awaken in them the desire to preserve our national Art Museums.
